Sixth grade marks a pivotal transition as students enter pre-adolescence. This year focuses on the rise and fall of Rome, geology, astronomy, and introduces physics concepts.

Year Overview

Rome mirrors the internal changes students experience as they move from childhood toward independence. We explore geology and astronomy to understand our place in the vast universe, and introduce physics concepts that reveal the hidden forces shaping our world.

  • History: Ancient Rome (Republic to Empire), Fall of Rome, Early Medieval Period
  • Science: Geology, Astronomy, Physics (light, sound, heat)
  • Math: Ratios, percentages, pre-algebra, business math
  • Language Arts: Research writing, persuasive essays, Roman literature & mythology
  • Art & Handwork: Mosaics, Roman architecture, technical drawing
